Trauma, Burns and Emergency Surgery

Lawrence Lottenberg
M.D.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

The Acute Care Surgery Research Program at the University of Florida provides an integrated approach to managing patients with complex medical conditions.  The research activities incorporate the use of a multidisciplinary approach involving the basic and applied sciences.  The research efforts concentrate on improving patient outcomes through the development of new therapies and treatments. The development of new technology is supported by our inclusion in multicenter, industry-sponsored research. Participation in these trials permits access to the most current technologies, and has supported the initiation of investigator-initiated protocols as well.

As State of Florida Trauma Medical Director, Dr. Lottenberg works with all the Trauma Centers in the State to improve the care of Trauma patients.  By utilizing statewide data sets we plan to identify areas in need of further research and statewide educational planning.  The use of evidenced based practice will assist in improving quality care as well as direct efforts at the legislative level to improve care across the State of Florida.
